Description
Convert the existing 6-foot chain link fence along the alley to a 6-foot wood privacy fence. The chain link fabric, top rail, and hardware will be removed. The existing steel line posts will remain and be adapted to carry a wood frame: horizontal 2x4 pressure-treated rails (top, middle, and bottom) will be fastened to each post with galvanized post-to-rail brackets, and vertical wood pickets will be attached to the rails. The finished side of the fence will face the alley.<:<:Gate Posts: Two (2) new 4-inch nominal Schedule 40 galvanized steel posts will be installed to support the replacement gate. Each post will be embedded a minimum of 36 inches below finished grade and set in a concrete bell footing measuring 12 inches in diameter at grade and flaring to 16 inches at the base. Concrete will have a minimum compressive strength of 3,000 psi. The top of each footing will be crowned to shed water away from the post. Posts will be set plumb and braced until the concrete has cured, and the gate will not be hung until curing is complete. The gate will swing inward onto the property and will not open into the alley.
